1986: After several years of refurbishing and selling used golf carts out of his garage, Bo Huff opens a retail dealer called The Golf Car Center in Columbia, South Carolina, one of the first stand alone retail golf car sales facilities in the country buying and selling used golf cars.
1987: The Golf Car Center becomes an official E-Z-GO dealer. Known as the “Home of the Hunting Car” it specializes in outfitting electric vehicles bumper to bumper to suit the individual customer’s preferences and purposes.
2000: Ruff & Tuff Products was formed and begins selling a full line of aftermarket accessories to individuals and dealers for vehicles made by all of the major brands.
2005: After five years of design, engineering, and testing Ruff & Tuff introduces their first line of electric vehicles under its own brand nameplate.
2006: Ruff & Tuff Products expands its dealer network through an agreement with Baton Rouge based GTG. In November the company introduces expanded line of golf cars for 2007 which includes product enhancements such as independent front suspension and new component technologies such as AGM dry cell Green Power batteries and advanced on-board charger.
2007: Mike McQuary joins the company as CEO, and the company is relaunched as Ruff and Tuff Electric Vehicles. It buys the assets of Charles Hebert's distribution company GTG and expands its dealer network throughout the Southeast and West Coast.
