AGM Dry Cell Battery System

Ruff & Tuff Electric Vehicles feature a 48-volt battery system with Discover AGM (advanced glass mat) Dry Cell Batteries that are long running and non-hazardous to the environment. Unlike traditional flooded lead cell “wet” and gel batteries, AGM batteries are sealed and have no liquid to spill, so they are safer. These are longer lasting and 25% faster charging batteries that operate at any temperature from -40°-to-+140°. Because they are dry cell, there are no emissions or smell, and no corrosion. The do not require maintenance and experience very low (1% month) idle memory loss.

Our cars are standard equipped with six 8-volt batteries that have a 30-mile range with a 2-guage wiring harness. For even higher performance, you can select our Extended (50-mile) and Extended Plus (70-mile) battery package upgrades that will give you longer traveling range. All of our batteries feature "Opportunity Charging" that allows you to re-charge anytime and anywhere a suitable source is available (you don't need to wait until the batteries are fully drained), without losing the batteries full charge capability.

Every Ruff & Tuff Electric Vehicle features our standard equipped on-board charger. Made by Delta-Q, it is the most advanced charger technology available for superior convenience and performance. This lightweight water-proof charger will charge any type of battery and is reprogrammable to handle any future battery technologies that may evolve. It prevents overcharging and undercharging, saves energy and charging time. Plus, it goes everywhere your Ruff & Tuff travels for handy Opportunity Charging anytime and anywhere suitable power source is available. Just plug it in anywhere.

The Integrated unit saves space, weight and cabling, while increasing system reliability, typically achieving 90% efficiency. Our charger features an advanced high frequency switching design and performs with a wide range of AC input (85 - 265 VAC) for global operation. The fully sealed enclosure provides improved reliability in rugged environments. The approved battery charge algorithms provide for ideal charging, and its Power Factor (>0.99) minimizes utility surcharges and optimizes the use of AC power.
